A good home provides ...
If you cannot provide these, we can't sell
our goats to you!
We are very careful about who we sell our goats to. We make sure that they will all go into loving homes that will take good care of them. We have the right to refuse any sale.
Babies Each spring we have kids born. Parents are matched to produce the absolute best that they can, but we can not guarantee that each kid will be a champion. All kids are dam raised but do get lots of attention and are very friendly.Buying kids is a great way to start your own herd, use for a goat 4-H project, or just for pets. Because of their small size, children are comfortable around them and they are easy to control. Goats must be sold in pairs because they are herd animals. If you are looking to buy one of our babies or adult goats, you will have to buy two unless you already own other goats. Price Estimates For 2013 Kids: Purebred Doeling: $150 Purebred Buckling: $100-$150 Purebred Wether: $75 |
Reserving Kids Please check out the breeding schedule to see our planned breedings. If you are interested in any kids from a certain breeding, please email us and let us know. We will not require a deposit on any unborn kids because the kid you want might not be born. If the kid you want is born and is available for sale, we will then discuss payment. If you know that you are looking for a kid(s) but you aren't picky about which breeding it/they come from, we can add you to the General Waiting List. Once again, no deposits are required. Calico Patch Farm reserves the right to retain any kid at any time. |
Buck and Wether Kids A wether is a castrated buck. All wethers are actually intact bucklings until about 7-8 weeks of age. If a kid is listed as a buck/wether, then they are of quality to be a herdsire. If they are not reserved before 8 weeks of age, then they will be castrated regardless of quality. If you are just looking for pets, I recommend a pair of wethers. They are much less temperamental than does and often form better bonds with humans. We would never sell a buckling that we would not be proud to have in our own breeding program! |
Health All goats are vaccinated, dewormed, and will have their hooves trimmed before leaving to go to their new home. Babies will be dehorned. Most of the adults that we have are also dehorned, but we do have a couple with horns. We make sure that all goats are healthy before leaving the farm. Because we can not oversee the care and feeding of them at their new homes, we can not guarantee their health after they leave the farm. To make the move easier on the goats, we will send them home with a sample of their food so that they can be slowly transitioned over to whatever you want to feed. Also, each goat will come with a health certificate and life-long advice to keep them happy and healthy. |
Transportation We do not ship our goats. We may however, drive a short distance to your home or even meet you half-way but a small delivery fee might be required. Otherwise, you must come pick them up from us where payment in full for each animal is due. |
Stud Service We do offer stud service to approved does. We charge $50 for the first doe and each doe after $25. This price is the same for all bucks. We prefer that the buck goes to your home, but if that is not possible, we will discuss their coming here with a boarding fee. We lease the bucks out for no more than 30 days. If we have a doe for sale that is not bred or has not recently kidded and is of correct age, we will breed them before they go to their new home for a fee of either $25-$50 extra. The price depends on the buck you choose and the current price of the doe. |
